ZTE has added another affordable Android smartphone to its lineup today in the form of the Blade III, the third device in its growing Blade family. The device boasts a 4-inch WVGA (480 x 800) display, a 1GHz single-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and 512MB of RAM.

Users can also look forward to a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, 4GB of internal storage — expandable via the microSD card slot — and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed.

ZTE says the Blade III's large display and Android 4.0 operating system provide users with a "sharp" multimedia experience without breaking the bank:

"With Blade III we have paid extra attention to our users. We have focused on a larger screen and expanded the storage space significantly. ZTE Blade III is the first ever smartphone in its price range with a 4-inch touch screen and Android 4.0. This enables more users to take part in an extremely sharp multimedia experience, without costing an arm and a leg," said Mr. Ao Wen, Vice President of Europe Operations for ZTE Handsets.

The Blade III will make its debut in Finland this month, then in Sweden in October with a SIM-free price tag of 1499 SEK (approx. $230). The handset will then rollout to "other key markets" in Europe and around the world "throughout 2012." However, I think the company may have meant to put 2013 in its press release.
