The Legend of Zelda is coming into the new age with a bang in Breath of the Wild. The series was seen as a trendsetter in the early days of its lifetime, but it’s been playing catch-up in recent years as other fantasy franchises have slipped into its role as the leader of open worlds.

Not Breath of the Wild, though. The days of falling behind are no more. Not only does this fully open world support brilliant cutscenes, quests and free reign, it also has one of the most important elements of modern video games: multiple endings. Producer Eiji Aonuma confirmed this much in the in an interview with IGN Portugal.

Yes there is an alternate ending, there is a certain criteria you have to fulfil to see it. Essentially, you do some specific things and you’ll see a different ending.

Well, there goes the timeline! Sorry fans. You’ll have to rally around another theory from now on.

Different colored tunics still have the same Link under them

Green, red, blue? When was the last time a major video game came to an end and caused a stir with those colors? I certainly hope Breath of the Wild can justify various endings better than that game could.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be released for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U on March 3.
