The family-friendly YouTube Kids app is now available on Smart TVs, just over two years after making its debut on mobile. Strangely, you can't yet get it on Google's own Android TV platform — but it is available on certain sets from LG, Samsung, and Sony.

YouTube Kids is much like the standard YouTube app, except it has a child-friendly interface and videos that aren't suitable for kids are filtered out. It means you can leave your little ones to enjoy all the entertaining videos YouTube has to offer, without having to worry that they might stumble across something unsightly — like Donald Trump's hair blowing in the wind.

Since launching on smartphones and tablets in February 2015, YouTube Kids has seen over 30 billion views and attracts over 8 million users every week. Now kids can enjoy it on the big screen, thanks to the YouTube Kids app for Smart TVs, which is available in all 26 countries where the service is already supported. Compatible sets include:

  • 2015-2017 LG webOS TVs
  • 2013-2017 Samsung Smart TVs and Blu-Ray Players that have access to the Samsung App Store
  • 2016-2017 Sony TVs following a firmware update (except those powered by Android TV)

Google says YouTube Kids will be coming to Android TV "soon," but there's no release date for it just yet.
