YouTube Gold Play Button-4

You know what would go well with that 4K TV you picked up during Black Friday? 4K video on YouTube. But not just any 4K video; 4K live streaming.

Google on Wednesday announced the popular video platform now supports 4K live streaming for both 360-degree and standard video formats. Concerts, award ceremonies and other live events are about to look a lot crisper.

To celebrate the new feature, Google says the Game Awards, which airs Dec. 1, will be streamed in 4K.

Here's what Google has to say about the launch of 4K live streaming:

For creators this means the ability to take advantage of an incredibly clear picture for recorded and now streaming video. It's the kind of thing that can help to push their hardware (and their talen) to create the most beautiful or just plain crazy-looking images and videos possible. And with 360 4K live streams, the sky is (literally) the limit.

Live streams will look much cleaner

While the feature will be great for streaming events such as the Game Awards, outlets will no doubt find other uses. It's only a matter of time before we see a 4K live stream of puppies. Now, that I would watch.
