international space station

Don't go to space if you like Pokémon GO. With mobile devices lacking the necessary internet connectivity—not to mention they're intended for research-only purposes—the six humans currently aboard the International Space Station (ISS) are being denied the latest gaming craze. I bet you're re-thinking your one-way ticket to Mars, aren't you?

"The smartphones and other mobile devices on station (tablets) do not have internet connectivity," a NASA spokesman said to Mashable. "They also only have access to apps specifically for the payloads they are intended for and do not have the ability to add apps like we do on the ground."

Boy, doing research for the betterment of humanity a few hundred miles above Earth sounds boring.

Here is a Tweet we never thought we'd see:

Well, there you have it. Astronauts can't catch them all—or any of them, really—while aboard the ISS. Fortunately, not all of NASA is sitting this one out; turns out the agency's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA, doubles as a research lab and a gym.
