Yakuza Idol

SEGA's Toshihiro Nagoshi. the creator and director of the Yakuza series, is thrilled to have a new game to show off at Tokyo Game Show 2015, but he is not allowed to say what it is just yet.

During a NicoNico Live stream event, translated by Siliconera, Nagoshi says he can't wait to tell people what his secret new project is.

"I'm so anxious for Tokyo Game Show. Although I'm not allowed to say why I'm feeling this way, yet. We'll announce [a new title] at Tokyo Game Show, and it'll be a good one. And I believe that Sega's live showing at Tokyo Game Show will be the most exciting one we've seen in a while."

Chances are we'll have another entry in the Yakuza series that English speaking fans will have to wait three years to play… if they are lucky. Yakuza 0 just released in Japan back in March, meaning 15 minutes are up and SEGA's got another one to cram down the fanbase's throats. Nogoshi seems unusually pleased about this announcement though, so I wonder what makes this one so special.

Could it not be a Yakuza game? Unlikely. A sequel to Binary Domain? Again, unlikely.

Tokyo Game Show 2015 will occur on September 17-20, and, as always, I'll be on the ground floor bringing you game impressions from predominantly Japanese video games. We'll know what SEGA has by then.
