Sony introduced the Xperia Z5 during the IFA trade show in Berlin back in August. At the time, it didn’t provide any information on when we might see the Xperia Z5 hit store shelves., but now we know: the Xperia Z5 release will begin starting next month.

Sony of Japan recently announced the news in an email sent to subscribers. One of our readers, Mason, translated the email for us and noted that Sony confirms the Xperia Z5 will “be released in late October.” Our hawk-eyed reader also watched an Xperia Z5 teaser video which, at the 0:26 mark, apparently lists November 1. We’re not sure what that’s referring to — perhaps a broader launch, maybe even internationally.

In other markets, the Xperia Z5 is officially up for pre-order. GSMArena found on Wednesday that Hong Kong and Singapore are now accepting Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact preorders, which shipments scheduled for October.

Unfortunately there’s still no information on possible U.S. launch timing. We’re still waiting on the Xperia Z4v launch on Verizon, so the Xperia Z5 probably won’t come soon.

Thank you Mason!
