Microsoft’s Xbox hardware received a fresh coat of paint. Just in time for the fall and winter, the Redmond-based company will begin offering three new products that are all white-colored.
While you might not want Fallout 76 this fall, it’s the only way to get the Xbox One X in white. The Microsoft Store and GameStop are exclusive sellers of the bundle. If you’re not into the Fallout series, just sell the game and keep Microsoft’s special edition console. It’s not like the bundle is more expensive than what the Xbox One X in black costs today ($500).
Based on the announcement, it sounds like Microsoft will let additional retailers sell the same bundle when Fallout 76 goes on sale. Bethesda’s latest installment in the popular series will be released on November 14.
As for the other products, Microsoft unveiled a new Xbox Elite Controller and a Turtle Beach-made audio system.
The Xbox Elite Control in white looks refreshing, but it’s the same exact model that was introduced in 2015. Microsoft swapped out the colors and left the rest unchanged. You’re still getting interchangeable thumbsticks and D-pads, remappable buttons, and Hair Trigger Locks. It also has paddles on the back that can be attached or removed.
If you purchase the Xbox Elite Controller, you can customize the configuration through the Xbox accessories app. Although the hardware comes down to you, the app offers adjustments for the sensitivities of all triggers and thumbsticks. Microsoft’s pro-style controller costs $150.
Like the Xbox One X, this shade of the Xbox Elite Controller stands as an exclusive for the Microsoft Store and GameStop in the United States. It arrives on October 16.
Turtle Beach joined the party after creating the Elite Pro 2 + SuperAmpPro Headset in white. The accessory, which will be appreciated by hardcore gamers, enhances audio quality and comfort. When the wired headset is released on September 16, you’ll be paying $250 for its advantages.
The Elite Pro 2 has “a durable yet sleek metal headband with a suspended pad” as well as “upgraded AeroFit memory foam ear cushions with athletic fabric and synthetic leather. For audio quality, Turtle Beach threw in esports-tuned 50mm speakers and a high-sensitivity microphone. Turtle Beach thinks teammates will experience flawless communication.
So it’ll be a busy stretch for Microsoft as 2018 comes to an end. Aside from these products hitting the market, the Xbox brand will get a boost from first-party and third-party titles. Games like Forza Horizon 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and Red Dead Redemption 2 are due out this year.
In 2019, we should do a much better lineup of first-party titles from Microsoft.
