Microsoft's E3 2017 presentation will be underway shortly, and Project Scorpio is expected to transform from being a talking point to an actual video game console with specs, a release date, and a price tag. However, even with a fair price slapped onto its more powerful device, Microsoft still wants the original model to be viable.

That's why, starting today, the Xbox One S model will be slashed by a whole $50, dropping the point of entry all the way down to $199.99.

Microsoft's Twitter post does not confirm if this will be a permanent price drop or a temporary one, like Sony's for the PlayStation 4.
