After X-Men: Days of Future Past, 20th Century Fox was scheduled to move on to an X-Force film featuring a team of X-Men that was more aggressive and militant toward enemies. However, plans took a back seat following the leak of the Deadpool test footage, leaving X-Force in production limbo. While it’s still unclear whether that film will ever see the light of day, concept art containing the film’s superhero team has been revealed, giving us a look at what could have been.

Comicbook came across what is claimed to be the big screen X-Force team, and it differs from what Jeff Wadlow, who was initially hired to write the movie’s screenplay, had chosen as his five-member team. Here’s what Comicbook had to say:

Based on the art below, Wadlow’s X-Force would include Cable, team leader and son of Cyclops; Domino, skilled marksman, hand-to-hand fighter with probability-altering powers; Warpath, Native American with super-strength and heightened senses; Cannonball, possessor of jet propulsion and force field abilities; and the final member of the team is a bit of a mystery.

That final member loosely resembles Rogue, though it’s difficult to tell with 100 percent certainty. It’s unclear where the fate of this movie lies, especially now that Deadpool, which comes out on February 12, 2016, has barged onto the scene. For now, we can only wonder what could have been (or what might be in the future). Below is the concept art for the on-hold X-Force movie.
