E3 2017 is just around the corner and publishers are starting to reveal the games they plan to bring to the show… what’s that? The convention’s almost over?! But… but Square Enix just revealed its list of games. Better late than never, I suppose.

The Final Fantasy publisher forwent the option to have a press conference this year clearly because it stacked 2016 as a breakout year and doesn’t have too much carrying over into 2017. NieR: Automata, Final Fantasy XV, Dragon Quest Heroes II, I Am Setsuna, all of the games it showed off last year came out and did very well, leaving this year’s E3 a little empty and this fan wishing for more.

Not to say its totally empty though. Square Enix has a few games to show off, and if you’re on the floor, you can head over to booth number 4322, play a few games, and do some virtual reality fishing with Noctis and the boys.

E3 2017 marks the return of some of Square Enix’s most beloved games to experience in new and exciting ways from Dissidia Final Fantasy NT and Life is Strange to Final Fantasy XIV Online to Final Fantasy XII as well as bringing brand new titles. We are very excited to deliver a powerful line up of games at this year’s E3 as Square Enix continues to introduce innovative and engaging entertainment for gamers around the world.

Yeah, off years happen. I barely noticed since Nintendo has captured the spirit of my inner fanboy, leaving Square Enix plenty of time to reload for a stronger 2018.

My wishes for Square Enix’ E3 2017 announcements were all long shots anyway, but the pipe dream of translations for Romancing SaGa 2 and 3 on the Vita and Seiken Densetsu Collection on the Switch remain open for next year.
