Windows Phone 8 home screenMicrosoft is reportedly preparing to let Windows Phone 8 loose on Oct. 29, three days after Windows 8 hits. According to ZDNet's unnamed sources, the Redmond company is planning to hold an event on the 29th to kick the launch off — maybe somewhere in San Francisco or Los Angeles; the company detailed the Surface in LA, so perhaps the company will use the same venue. After the announcement is made, handsets will allegedly be made available one to two weeks after in early November, meaning we can probably expect devices from Samsung and Nokia to hit soon after Windows Phone 8 is in the wild.
