Apple on Monday revealed the first details for macOS Catalina, which arrives this fall as a free update. There are plenty of new features included in Catalina, but the biggest is the breakup of iTunes into three apps (Music, Apple Podcast, and Apple TV).
Of course, with a new update, you're probably wondering if your machine will support the latest update. These Mac machines will work with MacOS Catalina:
- MacBook (2015 or newer)
- MacBook Air (2012 or newer)
- MacBook Pro (2012 or newer)
- Mac mini (2012 or newer)
- iMac (2012 or newer)
- iMac Pro (2017 or newer)
- Mac Pro (2013 or newer)
How to download and install macOS Catalina on your Mac
With macOS Catalina, Apple is making it easy for developers to port iPad apps to Mac, including Jira, TripIt, and DC Universe, among many others.
Additionally, macOS Catalina supports a new feature known as Sidecar, which will turn the iPad into a second Mac display.
MacOS Catalina will be available this fall for free.
