What you need to know

  • HBO has released the first trailer for Westworld 3.
  • Aaron Paul is set to star.
  • The upcoming season will debut sometime in 2020.

Game of Thrones may be over, but HBO still has plenty of great content on the horizon. In addition to Watchmen and His Dark Materials, HBO is set to release season three of Westworld, and you can catch the first trailer above.

Starring Aaron Paul, Westworld 3 looks to be quite the departure from the previous two seasons. Instead of the confines of the theme park, it looks like the show will introduce the "real world"—one that's populated by robots and futuristic vehicles.

But not everything is as it seems.

"Sometimes it seems like the world looks alright, like they put a coat of paint on it," Paul's character says. "But inside it's rotting to pieces."

Paul's character goes on to say that people were promised a better world, but it was all a lie.

Later in the trailer, we see Paul's character participating in some kind of robbery. Then we see him visit a friend in prison.

HBO hasn't revealed the plot of the newest season, but from what we can gather, Paul's character doesn't look too happy about the rise of technology.

Westerworld 3 is set to release sometime in 2020.
