Welcome to this brand-spankin'-new TechnoBuffalo feature we're going to try and run once every week. We've got ourselves an outstanding, talkative community and we're looking to harness that and spur it along with a weekly debate topic.

So, every Friday, I'll toss up a debatable challenge, you folks will vote and discuss. I'll also be posting the results of the previous week's poll with a little editorialization on the results.

We're going old school this week. These are the arguments we used to have on playgrounds during recess. We're talking 30 minutes of pure yelling about a fake, fat, Italian plumber and a blue haired rodent with running shoes. One had a princess, the other had a weird sidekick. One could live forever as long as he had money, the other was afraid of plants.

Before we get there, let's talk about the next console generation.

Here are the results for last week's poll:

2013 seems like the year, doesn't it? We actually ran a rumor this past week that targetted Microsoft's follow-up to the Xbox 360, "Xbox Next," to release in 2013. Should that be the case, the majority of you folks will be right. Then we all win!

Both Sony and Microsoft have gone on record as saying that their consoles were built with ten year lifespans in mind. The Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 released in 2005 and 2006 respectively. If the new console generation actually starts in 2013 for Microsoft and 2014 for Sony, both companies will have fallen short of their goals by two years.

It's for that reason, and the fact that I still think console games look great, that I find myself looking towards 2014 or 2015 for the official start of the next gaming generation. Looking at games like RAGE or Uncharted 3, I'm perfectly fine with graphical capabilities on the console side. Are PC gamers seeing better looking games? Absolutely. But, they'll also have to update their rigs a few times over the course of 10 years.

But, hey, I wouldn't frown at seeing new hardware. I'm a geek, if they show off cool tech, I'm interested.

Now, for this week's poll!

Who is better, Mario or Sonic?
