Ubisoft has confirmed that gamers who buy Watch_Dogs on the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 will have access to an additional hour of gameplay. Gamers who buy it on any other platform, so far, will not.

Here's Ubisoft's statement to CVG:

We can confirm that customers who will purchase Watch Dogs on PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 will be able to download 60 minutes of additional gameplay via the PlayStation Network after the game's launch. As of now, we have no more details to share.

Timed exclusivity I understand. I don't like it, but I understand it. Microsoft or Sony come to publishers and offer money up in order to boast platform exclusives for a week, month or year. It's lame for gamers, but it makes sense as a tactic.

But holding out actual content based on platform exclusivity for good? Come on, this is getting ridiculous. Watch_Dogs has earned a lot of spectular hype based on its presence at conferences and the trailers released over the last few months. As such, its fan base extends far beyond that of just PlayStation 3 and potential PlayStation 4 owners.

PC gamers want Watch_Dogs, 360 owners want it and, heck, even Wii U fans want it. But, guess what, if you want the full version of the game, you'll have to buy it on the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4. Sorry, fans, business comes first.

Of course, I'd love for Ubisoft to make this content a timed exclusive. PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 fans can have at the extra bonus Sony bought them, but it'd be nice if fans from other platforms could play the same content a month later.
