Labor Day weekend marks the unofficial end of summer in the U.S., and judging by the box office numbers this weekend, people took that to heart.

1. War Room

War Room used word of mouth marketing to win last weekend, and with the addition of 391 additional screens this week the film took the top spot at the box office to take in $9.35M. This brings the film up to a domestic gross of $24.66M off of a $3M budget. The film also dropped only 17.6 percent from its opening weekend which is pretty much unheard of.

2. Straight Outta Compton

The biographical film of the rap group N.W.A. – Straight Outta Compton – has finally out of first place in its fourth weekend. It took in another $8.85M to bring its domestic gross up to $147.78M off of a $28M budget.

3. A Walk in the Woods

This place was a bit of a surprise as the new Robert Redford/Nick Nolte comedy A Walk in the Woods landed in third place with $8.4M. With a budget of just $8M, that’s not a bad start at all.

4. Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, the fifth installment in the series, fell to fourth place to take in $7.15M. That brings it up to $180.38M in the U.S. and $509M globally off of a $150M budget.

5. The Transporter Refueled

Apparently audiences were not excited by The Transporter Refueled. The new entry in the series – the first without Jason Statham – took in just $7.13M this weekend making it the lowest opening sequel of the 2015 summer season. It has taken in additional $10M in foreign markets for a total of $17.13M globally off of a $22M budget.
