HTC One M8 - Review - Hero - 006

If you've got Christmas money to spend and you're looking to pick up a terrific deal on one of this year's best smartphones (and you live in the U.K.), then look no further than this deal on the excellent HTC One M8: Vodafone is currently offering the device for just £289 (approx. $450) on pay-as-you-go.

That's a lot less than the £350-£400 (approx. $545-$623) that other carriers and retailers are charging for HTC's latest flagship. The device will likely be locked to Vodafone, but if you're already on a Vodafone contract or you don't mind switching — or you're happy to get the device unlocked — then this is a great deal.

The One M8 has a gorgeous, 5-inch 1080p display, a speedy Snapdragon 801 processor, HTC's Duo Camera and BoomSound speakers, and 16GB of storage with a microSD card slot for expansion. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box with the Sense 6 user interface, but a Lollipop upgrade is on the way.

These specifications, combined with the One M8's incredible design, make it one of the best Android-powered smartphones of 2014. Sure, its successor may be right around the corner, but if you want a capable smartphone that won't cost you a fortune off-contract, this could be ideal.
