Verizon Motorola Droid 3 Unboxing (video)

Verizon Wireless just lent us the newest, fastest, and dare I say best looking Droid to date: The Droid 3. This latest installment of the touchscreen + hard QWERTY + Android smartphone that started it all features some pretty solid specs, an updated five-row thumbboard and a SIM card slot for GSM/UMTS global roaming. Droid 3 launched without much fanfare, likely because it lacks compatibility with Big Red’s 4G LTE network, but it offers a few business-class extras and what VZW calls “The slimmest full QWERTY smartphone in the world.”

Available now for $199.99 on contract, Droid 3 faces a ton of stiff competition from sleeker, thinner touch-only devices and a new breed of Android phones aimed at BlackBerry converts. Does the latest Droid have what it takes to keep up with the pack? Let’s find out, starting with getting the thing out of the box and into my big, sweaty palms.
