Sony and T-Mobile just announced the brand new Xperia Z1S yesterday, an exclusive version of the Xperia Z1 that will only be available on T-Mobile. We had a chance to not only go hands-on with the unit, but also to unbox a unique version that was sent to us here at CES 2014.
Inside the box we have the unit itself, but also a SmartWatch 2, which has already been on the market for a bit. So we focused on the new Xperia Z1S and walked through some of the unique features, including the Background blur camera option, which is only available on this model of Sony’s flagship. Also, you’ll find Wi-Fi calling, HD voice support, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 4G LTE support, 32GB of onboard storage, a 20.7-megapixel camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, a 5-inch 1080p display and so much more. Right now, the device runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean — which isn’t as exciting as Android 4.4 KitKat, but hopefully we see an update soon (Sony said no promises but that it’s looking into it).
The Xperia Z1S will hit T-Mobile’s online store on Jan. 18 and will be available for $0 down with 24-monthly payments of $22. Stay tuned for our full review, but in the meantime check out our full gallery and unboxing video.
