The Sony Xperia V is the company’s new mid-range Android smartphone, and we just had a few minutes to check one out during IFA in Berlin. The device packs a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, a 13-megapixel camera with a single LED flash and Sony’s awesome iPx5 water-resistant coating. We actually saw a demo where the Xperia V was under a waterfall (video coming shortly) and was getting completely drenched without a problem. Unlike the Xperia T, the Xperia V offers a smaller 4.3-inch HD Reality Display.
The Xperia V runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, instead of Jelly Bean, and we’re pretty bummed Sony didn’t decide to add Google’s latest operating system to its devices. Still, the screen looked incredible and the phone was noticeably light. We also dig that it will be available in several color schemes when it launches later this year.
