Sony Ericcson Xperia X1 Unboxing

by Jon Rettinger | December 13, 2009

The Xperia made a big slash when it was released in the early part of 2009.  It marked a new direction for Sony handsets, most notably, a departure from the Symbian platform.  The X1 runs on Windows Mobile 6.1, but uses a highly customized shell of panels.  Each panel has a variety of uses, some lend to increased productivity while others remain perfunctory.  Regardless of their utility, this new UI is extremly interesting, and something I wanted to revisit, especially with the pending release of the X2, which will help modernize the platform, but keep the same UI principles.
