Everybody wants in on voice technology. In another six months, the feature will likely become standard fare on flagship devices. Siri has been a mainstay for the past several months, and she promises to get better come this fall. S Voice was the next big digital entity to pop up onto the market, and with so many Galaxy S IIIs sold, a lot of consumers will be very familiar with Samsung’s offering.
Google Search is the most recent, and most impressive, to do battle as your next voice companion. We previously pitted Google’s effort against Siri in iOS 6, and now we’re doing the same between Google Search and S Voice.
The rules are simple: Ask the two voice assistants the same questions, and see which is more capable. This isn’t a ploy to try and trick any one voice technology, so we kept it simple. Also: These are questions I find myself asking the most often, which is why they’re simplistic in nature — What’s the weather like?; Set a timer; Remind me to pick up milk; etc.
It’s all about who manages to implement the most elegant, useful and human-like voice technology. S Voice, or Google Search? You be the judge.
