We’re here scouring the show floor at IFA in Berlin for hot new products, and one of them is LG’s new G Pad 8.3 tablet. It’s going to start hitting the market in Europe, Asia and, yes, here in North America starting around the fourth quarter for the holiday season, so it’s particularly noteworthy.
Its specs are pretty solid, and it’s a snappy little tablet. As its name implies it’s equipped with an 8.3-inch 1920 x 1200-pixel display, a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor (sorry, no Snapdragon 800 here, folks), 16GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel camera, a 1.3-megapixel rear-facing camera, a large 4,600mAh battery, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and will launch in black and white.
It also offers some of the software features of LG’s smartphone lineup, including QSlide for running three different apps at the same time ont he same screen, Slide Aside for moving apps aside to focus on other software pieces, “KnockOn” for tapping the screen twice to put it to sleep or wake it up, and more. LG also bills it as the first 8-inch tablet with a full HD display.
