I spent a day last week in Boss Key’s new studio playing LawBreakers. I was able to record two matches of my own play, and that’s the video you see above. If you want a really in-depth discussion about what the game has to offer, watch the video. TechnoBuffalo gaming contributor Eric Frederiksen talks about the game at-length.
The highlights? This is a blazing-fast arena shooter from Boss Key Productions, a studio founded in part by Cliff Bleszinski, the same game developer behind the likes of Gears of War, Unreal Tournament and Jazz Jackrabbit. The title offers a unique take on gravity and an initially cool set of characters.
I dug my time with it for its speed, gameplay diversity, old school feel and performance. I had a hard time discerning characters (whether that was figuring out who was who or who was simply not on my time) and leaning what I could grapple with my grappling hook while playing the Assassin class.
This preview is in alpha form. We also had our accommodations handled by the publisher, Nexon, to check LawBreakers out. Let those two disclaimers stand.
LawBreakers does not have a release date yet. Boss Key said they were targeting 2016, but that’s up in the air.
