Kindle Paperwhite Hands-On (Video): My Eyes Are Happy

Amazon’s new Kindle Paperwhite is the eReader you should own. Oh, the screen, The price. The everything. And it’ll only cost you $119. Book lovers, avid readers, road warriors: you need this.

The screen is great, but the all new design is pretty fantastic as well. Honestly, everything else looks pretty blah in comparison. Now you get a smaller, sleeker version of what Amazon previously offered. At just 7.5 ounces, the Paperwhite is thinner than a magazine and weighs less than a paperback; it’s as if the device is merely floating in your hands.

But the great new design just lends itself to the awesome new screen, which looks pretty phenomenal for an ereader. The higher res introduces 62 percent more pixels, 25 percent higher-contrast, a new built-in front light — and still gets 8 weeks of battery. Seeing it in person doesn’t compare to simply reading about it; you have to see to know.

We’re already smitten, and we’ve only just gotten to know the Kindle Paperwhite. We can’t wait to spend some more quality time with the device when it ships on Oct. 1. For now, check out our hands-on video.
