TechnoBuffalo’s Driven Takes Kia’s 2013 Sportage for a Ride

by Jon Rettinger | March 6, 2013

Kia’s has enjoyed an image renaissance over the past few years, highlighted by the company’s excellent Optima and Forte. We got the opportunity to roll inside the new 2013 Sportage, and that too has been reinvigorated with Kia’s new design philosophy.

In a word, the Sportage is beautiful. An excellent mid-size SUV that comes with all the bells and whistles. What we have is a 2 liter 4 cylinder direct injected engine putting out about 270 horsepower. It’s not the speediest vehicle on the road, but it definitely has enough pep and power to get you up hills while lugging multiple passengers or cargo.

The model we test drove came with the upgraded head unit, which offers things like satellite radio, navigation and other welcome features. Unfortunately, it doesn’t make use of Kia’s UVO, which we saw in the Forte earlier this year. There’s also Bluetooth, USB and AUX ports to connect your smartphone.

Overall, the Sportage offers a lot of premium features for a great value. Kia has developed a pretty excellent recipe for success, and it’s evident here in the 2013 Sportage. Check out the video for a full rundown on the Sportage, and don’t forget to hit up the Tech Feed channel on YouTube.
