HTC One S for T-Mobile Arriving April 25 for $199; We go Hands-On

We’ve spent the last 24 hours hanging out with T-Mobile’s brand new HTC One S. Earlier today we published our full review of the international version and, so far, it looks like you’ll be able to enjoy all of the features we loved for just $199.99 with a two-year contract starting on April 25th.

The One S is a bit different than the One X. It has a smaller 4.3-inch display with a qHD resolution that, while sharp, doesn’t hold a candle to the HD display on the One X. Don’t let us scare you away just yet, though. The device is absolutely stunning, thanks to its gradient back cover, and offers an aluminum unibody design. It only comes with 16GB of on-board storage and you can’t add any more with a microSD card, but that’s OK because Dropbox is offering about 23GB of additional free storage for 2 years.

The One S, unlike the international version, supports T-Mobile’s 42Mbps HSPA network. Data speeds have hovered around 2Mbps down and 1.3Mbps up in Manhattan, but there are areas where we’ve heard users are hitting between 9Mbps and 11Mbps, so it really depends on where you’re standing.

The camera, as we found with the One X, is absolutely stunning. It snaps photos in just 0.7 seconds and can auto-focus in 0.2 seconds. We also love the ability to shoot in rapid fire and then choose our favorite shot of the bunch.

We’ll be bringing you our full review shortly but in the meantime be sure to check out our full gallery below and unboxing video. T-Mobile customers will want to put the One S at the top of their lists, that much is already clear.
