HTC is expanding on their successful EVO line with a new, world enabled device called the HTC EVO Design 4G. Priced at $99.99 with a two-year contract, the Design 4G comes packed with many of the “must-have” features of previous EVO devices along with some healthy spec upgrades. Internally you’ll get a 4-inch qHD quality display (960×540), 1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 processor, Android 2.3 with HTC Sense 3.0 overlaid, Hotspot capability, 5 megapixel camera on back that can record HD video and a 1.3 megapixel camera on the front.
When we unboxed the Design 4G we were impressed with the premium quality feel of the build materials, which Sprint described as, “guaranteed to get attention and is nicely compact” – something we’ve come to expect from most HTC devices.
While the smartphone does bare a striking resemblance to older EVO branded offerings, the Design 4G seems to be a more streamlined, ironed-out experience that will certainly attract mid-range users and boalster Sprint’s Android lineup. Will consumers find it more attractive than the iPhone 4S or the Samsung Galaxy S ll at just $99.99? Well, that remains to be seen.
