The folks up in Canada who use Rogers as their carrier have already gotten their hands on the BlackBerry Bold 9900 – some of them even a few days early – leaving those of us waiting (im)patiently down here in the United States just a little bit jealous of them. Never one to be detoured, I had our own Jon Quach go and pick me up one of these bad boys and have it unlocked so he could ship it down here to me in the States. One AT&T SIM card later, and I’m rocking the latest flagship phone from RIM.
At first glance, this is a big step up from other BlackBerry handsets I have on hand. It is certainly the thinnest, and the addition of a touchscreen, while something to get used to, looks like an awesome step up for the BlackBerry line. The cold boot up is far quicker than previous RIM phones, but we’ll see if that holds up after I start loading my apps on to it. Overall first impressions? This is one great phone.
