Asus ZenFone 4 Hands-On!

We’re here at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show and just spent some time checking out Asus’ new family of smartphones, including the new ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6. What we found really surprised us.

You see, we weren’t really expecting that much from a handset that commands $99 unlocked. But it’s actually a really impressive device. The body doesn’t feel as rock solid as a premium phone, but then again you’re paying just a fraction of the cost. It reminds us a bit of what the Moto G is: a device that’s aimed at consumers who don’t need everything, but who also won’t settle for junk, either.

As a spec refresher, the phone has an Intel Atom processor clocked at 1.2GHz and runs Android 4.3 with Asus’ Zen user interface. The company says KitKat is coming, though didn’t provide a date, and other features include a 5-megapixel camera, a 1,170mAh battery and 1GB of RAM. For $99, we’re really surprised and can’t wait to see it hit the market.
