People love conspiracies, and alien truthers are having a field day with a recent video purportedly showing a UFO entering Earth’s atmosphere.

During a recent live stream from the International Space Station (ISS), a small white dot can be seen entering the frame and hurtling itself toward Earth. As the object continued to get closer, NASA’s live stream suddenly cut out. Obviously, the agency is hiding something, right?

Not exactly. It isn’t entirely clear what the object is that enters the frame, and the video currently circulating online is admittedly eerie. However, NASA says it has never seen a UFO—at least not in the “popular sense.”

As for why the video feed cut out, NASA explained it’s not actually in control of the signal.

“The feed is not switched manually,” a NASA spokesperson told Popular Mechanics. “It’s all done automatically. There’s nobody at a control board. WE use a space-based data relay network. It gives us a very good coverage area, but you do lose signal occasionally—anywhere from a couple of seconds to a couple of minutes.”

The small object seen in the video can be any number of things: a satellite, space debris, a meteor, or a simple reflection of light on the video camera’s lens. But an alien spaceship? I know Independence Day: Resurgence just came out, but it’s very unlikely that’s what the object was.

Judge for yourself in the video above.
