As video games and movies slowly start to tear down the borders that separate their general acceptance by the public, you can imagine that award shows will also begin to support both mediums with equal enthusiasm and legitimacy. Today, video games made history with the Academy Awards though with the first video game trailer qualifying for a nomination.

Everything, a video game simulation in which you can control… everything, first found its footing in the video game world with an impressive 11-minute trailer. It was this trailer the Academy deemed capable of getting a nomination for "Best Animated Short," seeing how it also tells a story and meets the required running time.

It currently sits on the show's "longlist" and hasn't been nominated for the award yet.
