Finally we can really throw down in the Verizon iPhone Vs. AT&T iPhone debate as both are in hand.

Although you are dealing with essentially the same hardware – the Verizon iPhone 4 has a minor antenna change – the Verizon iPhone Vs. AT&T iPhone fight is still going to be one that everyone wants to figure out.  Which carrier is going to offer you the better service?  Which will give you more, if any, dropped calls?  What is going to have the faster data speeds?

Our own Jon Rettinger ran the tests in the video above, and while Wi-Fi differences were negligible, the AT&T iPhone was clearly faster than the Verizon iPhone in mobile network speeds: 3.17 Mbps down on AT&T vs. a paltry .14 Mbps down on Verizon's network.  While some difference is expected, that much of a discrepancy is actually shocking.  We know there is a world of difference in 4G, but in 3G I'm not sure anyone could have expected that large of a difference.

When it comes to speeds, do keep in mind that there can be regional differences on any network, and that these results are only true for Jon's general California vicinity.  If you drive ten miles up the road, they could be completely different.

A test was also run while surfing the Web if phone calls would come through.  There has been a lot of questions since Verizon can't do calls and data at the same time, even prompting a TV ad from AT&T about this situation, and we did find that the call will come through, but that the data does indeed stop loading.  If this is a big deal to you, then the deal is probably sealed about which one you'll want to buy.

What say you?  Are you leaning more towards one carrier over another now?
