Verizon has announced a set of new deals that considerably cuts the price of the most popular flagships it offers. The new deals break down into two tiers: the first is regular trade-in offer then nets up to 50-percent off the most recent iPhones (X, 8 and 8 Plus) while the second is a BOGO deal specifically focused on the Galaxy S9.
The iPhone deal offers customers savings of up to 50-percent on the iPhone X, 8 and 8 Plus with an eligible trade-in. In total, factoring the most expensive iPhone X version (256GB), that means Verizon customers can net up to $575 in savings.
That sounds great, but there is one major catch: the 50-percent discount can only be attained with a qualifying trade-in device. Here's how the tiers breakdown for which devices qualify for the highest possible discount off the available iPhones.
To get 50 percent off the iPhone 8, trade-in: iPhone 7/7 Plus, iPhone 6S Plus, GS7 Edge, GS8/8+. Note 8, Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, LG G6, LG V30, Moto Z2 Force, Moto Z Force
- For 35 percent: iPhone 6S, iPhone 6 Plus, GS7, Note 5, GS6, GS6 Edge, GS6 Edge+, LG G5, LGV20, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z2 Play, HTC 10
To get 50 percent off the iPhone 8 Plus, trade-in: iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, GS8, GS8+, Note 8, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, LG V30, Moto Z2 Force
- For 35 percent: iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, GS7, GS7 Edge, Note 5, Pixel, Pixel XL, LG G6, LG V20, Moto Z 2 Play, Moto Z Force, HTC 10
To get 50 percent off iPhone X, trade-in: iPhone 8 Plus, GS 8+, Note 8
- For 35 percent: iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, GS8, Pixel 2, Pixel 2XL, LG V30
The discounts are pretty self-explanatory. There are few other caveats you should be aware of: the device must be purchased on Verizon's installment plan and customers must be on an unlimited data plan.
The Galaxy S9 deal is more straight up, although it does have the usual carrier qualifiers to get the full benefits. When you buy a Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus, Verizon is offering a $800 discount off a second S9 or S9 Plus. This essentially gets your a free S9 (it normally costs $800) or brings down the price of the S9 Plus to $130 (it normally costs $930).
Of course, there is a major stipulation to get the $800 credit: a new line must be activated. On the bright side, customers aren't required to be on a specific data plan like the iPhone deal. The discount will be applied in 24 monthly credits.
These are some of the best deals on marquee flagships that will ever be offered. If you've been on the fence about buying an iPhone X or Galaxy S9, Verizon just gave you a very good reason to jump over the fence buy it now.
Both the iPhone and Galaxy S9 Verizon deals will begin March 16.
