It's been a long wait for Samsung fans, but the Galaxy S5 is finally making the jump to Android 5.0 Lollipop. For now the update is only available on Verizon handsets, though hopefully other U.S. carrier's won't be too far behind.

As expected, the software update brings a hybrid of Google's Material Design and Samsung's TouchWiz. The result looks pretty good, offering some of the best features Android 5.0 Lollipop has to offer like lockscreen notifications, clever animations and a floating action button. Other improvements include Google's redesigned Recent apps menu and advanced settings for Do Not Disturb mode.

The update should start arriving today over the air, though it could be a day or two (or longer) before it hits your smartphone. You can always jump into settings to check manually for the update, or hit the source link below for Verizon's full announcement.
