Google's latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system is already available for owners of HSPA Galaxy Nexus smartphones, but Verizon Wireless still hasn't pushed an update out to its customers. Worse, it appears that there's still yet another Ice Cream Sandwich update on its way before a Jelly Bean build is launched.

According to AndroidCentral, which obtained a screen shot of the next release, Verizon is preparing to push the IMM76Q build out prior to Jelly Bean in an effort to stifle issues related to the phone's radio — which has been causing signal problems. As AndroidCentral notes, it makes perfect sense for Verizon to push out a fix that fixes a broader issue before it begins updating the Galaxy Nexus with a brand new build entirely.

Verizon has yet to confirm when it will launch Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for the Galaxy Nexus, but it's usually quite strict when it comes to quality control and making sure that updates work properly before they are seeded to customers.
