According to a Consumer Reports survey of 84,000 readers, Verizon FiOS is the top dog when it comes to cable bundle providers. The service, first launched in 2005, isn't the most widely accessible option available, but among the competition, it scored high on reliability, picture quality and overall satisfaction. This follows a similar report that ranked FiOS as the best ISP behind Google Fiber, which is even less accessible.
If you're unhappy with your current service, it might be worth exploring other options. And if FiOS isn't available in your area, or if you are content with Internet but want better TV, Consumer Reports says DirectTV ranked highest in picture quality. The report also recommends "triple play" bundles that offer phone, Internet and TV for the best possible deal, though Consumer Reports warns you keep an eye on your monthly bill to ensure you're not hit with hidden fees.
Landlines seem totally foreign to me in this day and age. Growing up I used them to communicate with friends and family, but most people have cellphones, so you may not even need phone. If you do absolutely need one, Consumer Reports recommends going with a VoIP service, such as Ooma and Vonage, which both ranked high on customer satisfaction.
There are plenty of options at your disposal, but FiOS is the best according to the survey. I have it at home and absolutely love the Internet, but not so much the TV (the interface is blindingly bad and slow. So, so slow)
