Verizon will introduce a new Device Payment Plan for "some devices" starting April 21, the carrier announced on Friday. Following the elimination of Verizon's 20 month early upgrades, the plans will be similar in vein to the carrier's tablet programs. Essentially, the new initiative will allow customers to break up the full retail price—$349 and up—of select handsets into monthly payments over twelve months. However, Verizon's big new plan isn't like T-Mobile's recent UnCarrier offering. According to Engadget, the device payments sit on top of existing service plans, not inside them. Still, it gives consumers the option to upgrade their device a little earlier, and break up the cost throughout the year.
