Verizon has the largest 4G LTE network in the United States and now it's larger than ever. The carrier announced Monday that it recently activated its 4G LTE service in six new markets, bringing the total market count to 497. It covers a total of 287 million U.S. residents and is available in 95 percent of the areas where Verizon also offers 3G service.

The new cities include Durango, Colorado; Corbin and Madisonville, Kentucky; Adrian and Mount Pleasant, Michigan; and Marietta, Ohio, and all were activated during the last week.

Verizon said it's still on track to cover its entire 3G network with 4G LTE service by the end of this year.
