I have a confession to make. The first Uncharted game is still my favorite. That one still felt like it could legitimately be called “a game.” Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is when the whole “cinematic experience” side of Naughty Dog’s approach began to take over, and that’s also where it kind of lost me. Maybe I need to play it again, but I haven’t seen eye to eye with Uncharted since I wrapped it up.

Editor’s note: Here’s where Ron and I split. I think Uncharted 2 is the best in the series. 3 went off the deep end a bit, but 2 was wonderful. -Joey

Luckily, Naughty Dog is providing a perfect opportunity for second chances. Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will compile the first three games together, and it probably goes without saying that the second one holds the most anticipation among fans. PlayStation Blog has some hands on impressions that sound quite good.

We should all be so lucky as Nate. The new 1080p resolution and generous framerate give everything a clean, crisp, fluid look and feel that flatters the original PS3 version without betraying Naughty Dog’s vision. One might say that this is Uncharted 2 the way it was meant to be played. And yep, that building still falls down real good.

In addition, it has released a handful of high resolution screenshots and some gameplay footage. Enjoy! Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will be released on Oct. 4 for the PlayStation 4. These versions are being handled by Bluepoint Games.
