We have great news for owners of U.S. Cellular's Galaxy S III: the carrier announced Monday that it will begin issuing Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to the device beginning on Friday, Dec. 21. Users won't need to rely on Samsung's Kies software to apply the patch, either, because U.S. Cellular will offer both an option to download it wirelessly over-the-air or by using a USB cable.

Jelly Bean runs much smoother than Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, thank's to Google's "Project Butter" that focused on speed and performance improvements. It also offers Google's top-notch voice search engine, which is comparable to Siri, and Google Now, which provides card updates for sports games, the weather, your traffic and more. This is an update you'll definitely want to apply as soon as possible.
