It's funny how something seemingly so simple can have such a profound effect on an app's usability. Twitter on Tuesday introduced an update to its Android app that allows users to enable a night mode, making the service much easier on the eyes in low light. Now, you'll hopefully avoid going blind while obsessively refreshing your Twitter feed before bed.

The new night mode feature is accessible in the settings card, which slides over from the left side of the screen. Simply toggle the switch and you'll see the new UI. For some reason, Twitter hasn't gone the extra mile by introducing a setting that automatically turns the feature on during a certain time of day, such as when the sun goes down. For now, users will have to turn the feature on manually.

Twitter hasn't indicated whether or not its iOS app will get a similar feature, so this is exclusive to the Android app for now.
