Just ahead of Nintendo’s big event tomorrow, some information about upcoming Wii U games is starting to trickle out.

First up is Frozenbyte’s Trine 2: Director’s Cut. Trine 2 is already on the other three systems, but for Wii U it will be a launch-window title with some updates that should make it feel a bit less like a re-release.

The Director’s Cut, according to the press release will include a number of Wii U-exclusive features. In addition to a number of improvements and added polish, the game will support local and online co-op with the Wii U GamePad and three Wii remotes, a new “Magic Mayhem” party mode, and new control options specific to the Wii U release.

Finally, the Goblin Menace expansion Frozenbyte has been working on will be included with Trine 2: Director’s Cut, which sports new skills and environments, including “the insides of a giant sand whale.” Frozenbyte, clearly proud of it, calls it some of their best work.

Yep, can’t wait for the sand whale.
