TF3 Game Megatron DrainHigh Moon Studios, the company behind Transformers: War for Cybertron, are coming back to the franchise with the official game for the third film in the series, Transformers: Dark of the Moon.  While the movie series has been of questionable quality, if the game lives up to the previous title, it may just be better than the third installment.

While the game shares the same title as the film, it will actually fill in the story gap between the second and third films, including an explanation of why Megatron now has an Earth semi truck as his vehicle mode as opposed to the previous Cybertron vehicles he's used.

While the game will feature the movie character designs, there will also be additions of some well-known Transformers that will not be appearing in the film such as Warpath, the red tank, in the video above.  The game will also keep aspects of War for Cybertron such as the quick transformations and the different special abilities some of the Transformers had, such as the energy drain Megatron is using in the picture to the right.

Unlike most movie tie-in games that usually fall horribly short in the gameplay department, Dark of the Moon will be using the same game engine, mechanics and so on from War for Cybertron, so it should be a solid game on that side of the issues, so only the story side and overall graphics will be new.

The multiplayer aspect of the new game has not yet been finalized, but it is believed it will be similar to the last game in that it will have the same game styles, but all new maps.

While I had some issues with the repetitive nature of the fisrt game that I stated in my War for Cybertron review, it was still an overall solid game, and I'm looking forward to jumping back into the universe.  It certainly can't be any worse than the movies have been.

What do you think?  Will you give the Transformers: Dark of the Moon a go?
