Autobots, transform and roll out… three more movies are heading our way over three years.

Paramount recently announced when we can expect Transformers 5, Transformers 6 and Transformers 7. The first will arrive on June 23, 2017 and will launch three consecutive years of new films. Transformers 6 is scheduled for June 8, 2018 and the seventh film will hit theaters on June 28, 2019.

There is a definite economy to shooting in this way as production offices don’t have to shut down and can re-use sets and digital assets easily enough. This, however, also pretty much tells us Michael Bay will not be directing all of these films. The sixth and seventh films will be in pre-production while he shoots the fifth (which is not yet confirmed to happen), so it would be nearly impossible for him to be involved. This will be a bold step for Paramount as he has been the only person to direct the franchise so far.

Are audiences ready for this much robotic mayhem? It appears we’re about to find out. As the TechnoBuffalo gaming department has pointed out many times, annualized games have been a bad idea, so it should be interesting to see how it works out for movies.
