Updated visuals and music numbers aren’t the only things fans of Nihon Falcom’s The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky can expect from the updated Vita Evolution enhanced port. New screenshots provided by the Japanese developer show off new characters, new cutscenes, and even a newly added “field attack” element to the gameplay.

Taking a cue from many other popular RPGs these days, like the Persona games, landing a successful attack in this “field attack” will give characters an advantage at the start of battle. I’m hoping that these attacks take it a step further and can just completely eliminate enemies that are just far below the level of the heroes. Very few RPGs have followed the idea started by Earthbound, but it is a wonderful saver.

Further screenshots provide a deeper look at characters Agate Crosner, Tita Russell, Klose Rinz, and Zin Vathek. Again, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky is on my bucket list to complete before the end of this year, so I am hoping to have full comprehension of this popular RPG universe should an English version of the remake ever get released.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Evolution will be released on the PS Vita in Japan later this year. Again, no English translation has been announced yet, but XSEED has done a decent job at putting these out there on multiple platforms. Maybe it will follow up with this Vita version as well.
