T-Mobile said Thursday that it will begin selling the Lumia 521 in its stores with its new Simple Choice plans for $29.99 down, plus 24 monthly payments of $5, bringing the full cost of the phone to an affordable $150. The device will also land in Microsoft Retail outlets and Walmart on May 11 for $149 and $129.88, respectively. It made its debut on the Home Shopping Network on April 27, which offered the device for $149.95 with a free screen protector and car charger.

The Lumia 521 is a very entry-level device and offers a 4-inch display with an 800 x 480-pixel resolution, a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 8GB of storage, 512MB of RAM and access to T-Mobile's HSPA network. That means you won't be able to use the carrier's budding 4G LTE network, which is much faster.

If your contract is up, you might want to consider the Lumia 920 on AT&T, which is far superior and is available for free with a new two-year contract.
