Tile is best known for those little square trackers you can use to track your luggage and other valuable possessions. It’s a way for consumers to add tracking technology to possessions that don’t otherwise have the capability. In the future, Tile wants to bypass the tracking tag and embed its technology right into your possessions.
Tile is partnering with chip makers to add integration of Tile’s tracking technology onto chips. It will partner up with chip companies Qualcomm, Dialog Semiconductor, Silicon Labs and Toshiba to add the technology into its chips from the manufacturing process. With the tech being embedded into products, consumers will have the “Find with Tile” ability right from the get go.
Some of the first companies to offer the built-in Tile tracking feature will be Sennheiser, Sol Republic, Plantronics and Soundcore by Anker. Tile already offers integration with the Bose SoundSport Wireless headphones and Skullcandy Venue headphones. Tile also wants to add its tech to things like cameras, laptops and wearables.
Just last year Tile announced a similar partnership with Boosted and Bose, but this new step seems to take the integration to the next level.
Moving forward, look for Tile to expand beyond just tech products. This would be the next frontier for Tile as its establishes itself as the platform to track your everyday things.
