It seems that owners of the HTC ThunderBolt are going to be getting a long awaited update to Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) by the end of the month, and it will finally bring the Skype video calling they’ve all been waiting for.

We first heard about a possible update to the ThunderBolt back in April, and at that time it looked like it would happen before the end of June.  Well, now it looks like it is happening, just on June 30th … that still counts, right?  Keeping in line with this time frame, Phandroid got a hold of what is reportedly a leaked internal memo from Verizon showing everything that will be included in the update.  We say “reportedly” only because some sites are saying this image is fake, but with the nature of rumors such as this you just can’t ever be sure.

ThunderBolt 2.3.4 update

We’ll know next week if this is real or not, but hopefully it is. Skype video calling was supposed to be there from day one, but has been delayed this entire time. The addition of Google video calling would be sweet, but it isn’t the one everyone is waiting for.

What do you think?  Will the promise of a June launch for this update materialize or not?
